The Age of the Dinosaurs

The Museum hosts dinosaur specimens from all three periods of the Mesozoic Era. From the first dinosaur to the last, we walk you through the history of the dinosaurs from the smallest Allosaurus to the largest Sauropod, and from T. rex to Triceratops. We also host traveling exhibits and special finds from our yearly excavations. Journey with us through 190 million years of dinosaur history.

Meet the Dinosaurs

  • Paul the Utahceratops

    Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument

Cast replica of Utahcertaops gettyi, affectionately known as Paul, around the museum. Paul is 75 to 76 million years old, so although he is a teenager, he is still older than humans!

  • Thescelosaurus

    Wyoming

Our fearless security dinosaur, greeting all of the visitors to the museum.

  • Pachycephalosaurs Dome

    Hell Creek Formation

This dinosaur’s name means “thick-headed lizard” because of its bony dome. We don’t know the function of having such a big skull. Maybe you have an idea?

  • Sauropod Femur

    Morrison Formation, Johnson County WY

Sauropod dinosaurs have long necks and tails, and they are often misrepresented in the movies!

  • Merycoidodnotid Skeleton

    White River Formation, Wyoming

A herbivore that had a body like a pig.

  • Caesar the Allosaurus

    Morrison Formation, Wyoming

The famous Allosaurus from the Jurassic Period. Laura from the Indianapolis Children’s Museum is using a 3D scanner to study him!
